There are moments in life that quietly change everything.

For me, it didn’t happen in a beauty aisle or while trying a new product—it happened during a time when I was forced to slow down and really look at what I was putting in and on my body.

As a brain tumor survivor, that awareness hit differently.

Ingredients I had never thought twice about suddenly mattered. Labels I used to ignore became something I actually read. And over time, I started realizing just how much we’re exposed to every single day, often without even knowing it.

It wasn’t an overnight shift but once I started paying attention, I couldn’t unsee it.

A More Intentional Approach to Beauty

Like so many people, I felt overwhelmed at first.

The beauty industry is filled with bold claims, long ingredient lists, and conflicting information. It can feel like you need a science background just to figure out what’s worth using.

What I’ve learned is this: clean beauty doesn’t have to mean perfect.

It’s not about replacing everything overnight or getting it “right” every time. It’s about being more aware, more intentional, and making better choices when you can.

Where the Name Comes From

Jonquil Beauty is named after the jonquil flower—a bright yellow bloom known for renewal, resilience, and natural beauty.

The name is rooted in Smyrna, Georgia “The Jonquil City” where Mike and I once lived. The flower became a quiet symbol of growth, healing, and starting fresh.

Meet the Team

Mike | Founder

Mike is the technical mind behind Jonquil Beauty. As a software engineer, he built the platform from the ground up and continues to support the business, operations, and research behind the scenes.

Lissa | Content Lead & Clean Beauty Researcher

After my diagnosis, I stepped away from my previous career to focus on my health but what came out of that time was a deep dive into ingredient safety and clean beauty.

Now, in a volunteer role for the company, I lead content creation, product testing, and research for Jonquil Beauty, sharing what I’ve learned along the way.

When I’m not researching products, I’m usually spending time with Mike, enjoying good coffee, or soaking up the Florida sunshine.
